This event is my answer to the question: “Y2K?”

My problem with the nostalgia based aesthetics of Y2k broadly is its tendency to have a lot of very trendy elements; repeating motifs that get copied from poster to poster without much consideration. Instead of blindly following a visual trend, I wanted to take the time to create something a little more fresh. I decided to dig deep into the visuals of the era, exploring a range of retro-futurist early 2000’s inspired design styles. What resulted was a diverse range of Y2K themed logos and aesthetics that still managed to fit together like a puzzle. It transitioned to motion perfectly, a chimera-like visual identity shifting and morphing seamlessly, covering all the flavors of Y2K like you’re hitting every flavor in the soda fountain. I was able to dig deep in my heritage archive of fonts that date back to the mid 90’s, and found plenty that were genuinely of the era.
