For PLUSH’s fifth event, we desired to make something a little more graphic and colorful to reflect the main novelty de jour: blacklight. I still felt the desire to keep some of that high fidelity CG style, so the direction ended up being mostly 2D design and animation, with a single elements of composited CG for emphasis. To lean into the playfulness we were trying to channel, I decided to make all the type and graphic elements resolve at 45° angles, turning the composition into a playful zigzag. The typography is primarily Avant Garde, a reaccuring staple in the PLUSH brand. With a heavy lean on Puppy Play aesthetics, the joy and playfulness imbued in this art direction oozes from every colorful shape.
